Hot on the heels of news that his friend and costar Diego Luna became a father this week, Mexican actor Gael García Bernal has confirmed that he will be un papá también.

The 29-year-old actor, who counts Y Tu Mamá También, Babel and The Motorcycle Diaries among his international credits, confirmed Wednesday that he and his Argentine actress girlfriend are expecting their first child together.

“This statement is to say that, after so much speculation and comments, the actors Dolores Fonzi and Gael García Bernal are indeed expecting a baby at the start of next year,” Bernal said in a statement released through Canana Films, the production company he started with Luna.
