I am heartbroken and deeply saddened to hear that the man who made me dance, made me cry, and most of all, always made me smile, is gone.
what a beautiful talent.

So, the other night we were watching a program on the Science Channel about America’s quality (NOT) infrastructure. It was basically outlining exactly how fucked this country would be if we were to ever experience an extended blackout. The show was focusing on the 2003 blackout of the east coast. I was not aware that that episode was brought upon by ONE electrical wire that touched a tree…in OHIO! It shut down power (and many cities) near the eastern seaboard and up into Canada. The engineers were saying that electricity is our lifeblood, and that the system is in such disrepair, that the citizens of the free world are going to see a mind blowing outage in our future. Shutting down roads, all business as we know it, refrigeration, all forms of communication, transportation, AIR CONDITIONING (it was 102 today in Austin), and list goes on and on. A blackout of this caliber could possibly be the largest tragedy known to mankind. They were saying that it would cost somewhere around 2 TRILLION dollars for the circuit boards to be brought up tp modern standards. So, here is my question, why on earth are we giving our hard earned tax dollars to car companies? I don’t want a fuckin, made in the USA, piece of shit car. I had one…it sucked. Instead, how come we could not invest in our electrical system? It would absolutely create more jobs than the car industry, and would be much more fruitfull. It would save lives. It could could possibly save our country as we know it.
Why shitty cars?

So, as I read earlier on CNN, Jon and Kate have filed a resolution to dissolve their marriage. Here’s what we think…
She Said – I feel for this family. What did they expect, honestly? I saw it coming. I don’t feel bad that I was a little anxious to see the unraveling, in my eyes, they asked for it.
He Said – “Oh man, I can’t do it now, I’m too high”.
sigh…

This is dedicated to, ….oh, what’s his face.
They helped me cultivate my love for fine Indian take away, aged wine, Irish cheeses, and a circumcised penis.
Good Night,

Um, correct me if i am wrong, but this idiot called the cops on her man, Chris Brown, citing threats and battery charges. And then she gets back together with him? I believe that people in the spotlight…especially young women, should have a voice against domestic violence and what not. Am I wrong? This to me is unfortunate, and while I always thought that her music sucked anyways, now I just think she is a sorry, loser, asshole.
oh well, one down, a million others to disappoint.
I’m over it. Go find that shit somewhere else.

Austin & FOOD! & Lamberts BBQ
Apr 07, 2009
This past weekend I was in the mood for brunch…on Saturday. I had heard that Lambert’s BBQ did a fine Saturday brunch, so the bf and I weaved our way through the Austin Farmer’s Market to Lambert’s Downtown Fancy BBQ. Seems they decided to change things up a bit and offer brunch on Sunday only. It’s a good thing.
After reading about Lambert’s phenom 26 year old chef, Larry McGuire, we decided to try his latest venture across the street, LaCondesa. First of all, the decor took me to some fancy mediterranean far off island of Greece. It was beautiful and soothing and amazing. The table at the front of the restaurant boasted an assortment of homemade breads and sweet rolls, accompanied by bowls of butter, mexican crema, and an orange and vanilla infused marmalade. All delicious. Apparently they like to infuse things.
For brunch I had a BLT, as did my bf. They came stacked on grilled sourdough and accompanied by a spring salad mix. Good, but the main highlight of this trip was the drinks. After all, you can’t do brunch and not imbibe. Normally, except for that one bottomless mimosa adventure, I would limit myself to a drink. This time, I had two. And if you keep reading, you will understand why…
I had:
ALMA BLANCA habanero-infused chinaco blanco
ginger essence, aloe vera-lemongrass syrup, pineapple juice,
fresh corn, hoja de hierba santa, hibiscus-rose-infused salt rim
EL CUBICO whole leaf tobacco-infused sauza hornitos
reposado, navan vanilla liqueur, lemon, grilled pineapple juice,
mezcal essence, volcanic-saffron-infused salt rim
For real, in the latter concoction, they grilled my pineapple juice before putting it in my drink. Fucking genius! The Alma Blanca was exactly what I look for in a bloody mary, but it was a little sweet…with a major kick from the habanero infused chinaco blanco (tequila). And while the other, a tobacco infused tequila, may sound a little odd, it was delicious, exotic, and quit powerful as well. A divine creation. And no, it did not taste like a parliament light.
I suggest a visit to Lambert’s, LaCondesa, and two of McGuire’s upcoming ventures…Perla (opens in April) and the bar above LaCondesa, Malverde.
Good job, lads.
Eat, drink, and be merrier.

So, the owner of our house is putting it on the market for financial reasons. I think this is total bananas considering the market, but this dude never struck me as brilliant by any means…anywhooo, in order to prepare the house for selling, he is doing some cosmetic work. For the duration of our time here on the east side, he has always had the wackest people do work for him. This time, he is having the driveway widened. The brother he had out there working had a wheel barrow (sp?) but no car. And, no teeth…well, he had two…albeit they were indeed gold. I had to go out and investigate. Being true to my nosey-ass self, I gotta ask everyone a zillion questions so I know all about them as soon as I meet them. So I did. I asked him if he did contract work for a living, he replied…”I do lots of thangs, I guess you could say that I am just a trick of all trades”.
That was the most fabulous thing I had heard all day.
and p.s, he is not a trick at cleaning up his mess.
GBJ…sick w/ strep throat, but sippin on that syzzurp.
